How We Do It

According to recent statistics, over 53% of major infrastructure projects suffer from time and cost overruns, and 50% of all construction projects fail to meet their due dates. However, it’s difficult to stay under budget and on schedule when there are constant day-to-day changes in the work schedule. These changes come in the form of changes to blueprints, funding delays, field-support issues, weather shutdowns, and other abrupt changes to the plan. As a result, project priorities quickly get out of sync which makes:

  • Required inputs (material, tools, approvals, etc.) not available when needed.
  • People, especially experts and managers, juggle multiple phases and tasks at once, creating bottlenecks.

Real-Time Synchronization eliminates priority confusion and keeps the entire organization and its suppliers in sync even among daily changes in the plan. This not only makes management simpler, but also allows you to execute projects 20-80% faster, without compromising on scope and quality.

Brad's Story

Brad is a field construction supervisor who was always busy fighting fires instead of completing critical tasks. Read his story for a closer look at how Real-Time Synchronization helped him out.

"It used to take us 2 weeks to do a
2-day build task.”

No wonder why it was so difficult to complete the project on time and under budget.

The real problem was that my laborers were always waiting – waiting for tools, materials, approvals, other craftsmen… If I had a nickel for every time we had to wait, I’d be able to pay all the overtime myself.

When my people got stuck on a task, I would have to chase down other supervisors and customers while they waited. I was too busy fire-fighting instead of being close to my team to resolve their issues and assign the right priorities. I felt like I wasn’t being an effective supervisor, and it showed through our poor results.

Eventually my people would get tired of waiting for me, and to stay busy they would start other tasks. However, starting new tasks without all documentation and tooling just led to more issues and stuck tasks. This led to even more unfinished sections and pushed out customer milestones.

That was then, and this is now.

We got out of this daily rut by synchronizing task priorities across all departments. We had tried this in the past, but the difference this time was that Realization's Real-Time Synchronization method kept our priorities in sync even as tasks

Now we can work straight through a task without getting stuck because tools and documents are available when needed. Most importantly, I am available to guide my people on their work and assign the right priorities.

Our projects are now turned around in one-third less time than before even with reduced familiar. Our customers are happy and business seems to be picking up.
