How We Do It

MRO projects take too long because of the constant changes in daily work schedules caused by scope creep, technical issues, parts/tools delays and other day-to-day changes. As a result, priorities quickly get out of sync and

  • Required inputs (tools, parts, work cards, etc.) are not available when needed.
  • Bottlenecks form everywhere and mechanics spend most of their shift waiting on these inputs.
  • Execution slows down and projects take longer than they should.

Real-Time Synchronization eliminates priority confusion and keeps the entire organization in sync even when ground conditions keep changing. It not only makes coordination easier, but also allows you to execute projects 20-50% faster than before.

Sam's Story

Sam is an aircraft MRO supervisor who was always jumping from one crisis to the next. Read his story below for a closer look at how Real-Time Synchronization helped him out.

"It used to take us 2 weeks to do a
2-day repair task."

No wonder our depot found it very difficult to turn around the aircraft on time and on budget.

The problem was that my people were always waiting - waiting for work cards, parts from back shops, inspections, engineering documents... If I got a nickel for every time we had to wait, Id be able to outsource all our work.

When my people got stuck, I would have to chase down other departments and managers while my team waited. I was rarely near my team to answer their questions and assign the right priorities.

Eventually my people would get tired of waiting and start other tasks, but it only meant they would get stuck again. This led to even more unfinished tasks and pushed-out schedules. Do you realize how frustrating and stressful it is to keep putting out fires without getting anything done?

That was then, and this is now.

We got out of the daily rut by synchronizing task priorities across all departments. We had tried this in the past, but the difference this time was that Realization's solution kept our priorities in sync even as changes hit us every hour of the day.

Now we can work straight through a task without having to wait for inputs or resources and my people are confident in asking me for help. Most importantly, I am available to guide my people on their real work.

Our depot can now turn aircraft around in one-third less time. We have increased our throughput and reduced overtime. Our customers are happier and business seems to be picking up.
