U.S. Navy Expands Project Flow Implementation
to More Shipyards SILICON VALLEY - February 24, 2004 - Realization Technologies today announced that the U.S. Navy would expand its Project Flow solution to the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, thereby increasing service levels and cutting costs. "Realization's Project Flow solution represents the cumulative, successful results of breakthrough thinking," reports Realization CEO, Sanjeev Gupta. "The U.S. Navy pioneered conventional project management. However, the Navy is now moving toward managing the total flow, instead of just tracking and managing critical path." Project Flow has already been implemented in many areas at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PHNSY & IMF). By increasing the total flow, the Fleet Maintenance Availability Project for Submarines (FMB) has improved schedule performance. The average number of jobs done per upkeep has also risen while the man-hours required have decreased. Realization developed Project Flow software to eliminate bottlenecks and increase the flow of projects in multi-project operations. Realization's Project Flow software schedules projects based on the most limiting resources. It then assigns buffers in places where they can do the most good. Finally, it measures flow and prioritizes project tasks accordingly. "It's time to realize that the problem isn't project managers or people. That is the old way of thinking. The problem is bottlenecks that stop projects from flowing," reports Gupta. "Bottlenecks occur when you have uncertainties, multiple projects to do and limited resources. Conventional software not only leaves it to project managers to wrestle with bottlenecks, but actually makes bottlenecks worse by automating the wrong rules." A wide range of projects-based organizations are using Project Flow to do more projects faster and finish them on target. Realization has endorsements from VP's of Engineering, VP's of Operations and senior officials in the U.S. military. About Realization Technologies, Inc. For more information, contact: Tom Brigham
